A few years ago, an OAS aspirant from Koraput or Kendrapara had only one option: shift to Bhubaneswar. Today a student in Sambalpur attends the same class, writes the same test and gets the same answer copy checked by the same teacher.
That is why online OAS coaching has spread across Odisha. It has also filled the internet with video packages that have no system behind them. This guide explains what a serious programme must include and how to check it before joining.

Some readers are writing Mains now, others are starting fresh for the next cycle. Both can prepare from home, and both should begin with the OPSC OAS cut-off analysis of past years.
Know the Exam First
The Odisha Civil Services examination has three stages: Prelims, Mains and the Personality Test. Prelims is objective and only qualifying. Mains has nine descriptive papers, and that is where your rank is made.
Read the OPSC OAS syllabus topic by topic and mark what you have never studied.
Then check the OPSC OAS exam pattern for paper structure, marks and timing. Remember the heavy Odisha portion: state history, culture, tribes, minerals, schemes, economy and disasters.
Finally, open the OPSC OAS previous year papers before you start any course. Nothing tells you more about the real standard of the exam than the questions already asked.
What a Good Online OPSC Programme Must Include
Use this checklist. If a course misses three or more, keep looking.
• A small batch, so your doubt actually gets answered.
• Direct access to the faculty who taught the class, not a support executive.
• Mentorship by someone who has cleared the exam.
• Daily tests in both formats, objective and written.
• Answers checked with comments, not just a score.
• PYQ workbooks for both stages, tying practice to the real paper.
• A full-year answer writing plan, because writing is a habit, not a crash course.
• Separate Prelims and Mains test series, each with ranking and mentor feedback.
• A dedicated Odisha section, without which your preparation stays half done.
APTI PLUS: Distance Learning Programme for OPSC OAS
Among the names Odisha students consider, APTI PLUS Academy for Civil Services is the most established, with two decades on this exam and a centre at Jayadev Vihar, Bhubaneswar. Its OPSC OAS distance learning programme gives home learners the same system classroom students get.
• Small batches: About 80 to 120 students per batch, so teachers notice when someone falls behind.
• One-to-one interaction with faculty: Students speak directly to subject teachers in regular doubt sessions, and can attend doubt clearing at the Bhubaneswar centre. There are 25 or more senior faculty members, most with 15 or more years of experience, and two per subject, as listed on the OPSC faculty page.
• Personalised mentorship with rank holders: Under Sahyog mentorship, each student is paired with officers, faculty and previous OAS rank holders who track weekly progress and correct the study plan when it slips.
• Daily tests, MCQ and Mains: Subject-wise and topic-wise objective tests keep Prelims accuracy sharp, while daily written practice keeps the Mains hand in shape.
• Daily answers evaluated by rank holders: Copies are checked by rank holders, faculty and officers, with comments on structure, content and presentation, plus model answers.
• One-year answer writing programme: From simple structures to data, examples and Odisha-linked answers, ending with full papers under time pressure.
• Prelims test series with mentorship: 42 mocks, including 15 sectional, 9 full-length GS, 5 PYQ-based, 5 current affairs, 5 CSAT and 3 Odisha-specific tests, each giving an All-Odisha rank, with mentor discussion after every test.
• Mains test series with mentorship: 23 tests covering sectional GS, full-length GS, essay and the Odia and English language papers, evaluated by faculty and former officers with copy discussion.
Students who want only practice can take the SAMARTH OPSC OAS test series, which covers both stages with mentorship built in.
Beginners who want classes from the basics usually start with the 1 Year Foundation Program for OPSC OCS, available in online, offline and recorded modes.
The Integrated Course: One Plan for Two Exams
Many OAS aspirants also write the national civil services exam, and about 90 per cent of the two syllabuses overlap. Preparing twice for the same General Studies is wasted time.
The 1 Year Integrated Program for UPSC and OPSC teaches the common syllabus once and adds separate modules for the Odisha portion and the state paper pattern. It runs in online, offline and recorded modes, with answer writing and tests for both exams.
This route has a record behind it. Somalin Priyadarshini, Kasturi Panda, Sanjita Mohapatra and Tejaswini Behera all became OAS officers first and later cleared the national exam with the academy.
PYQ Workbooks: Prelims and Mains
Separate previous year question workbooks are given for both stages. The Prelims workbook arranges past objective questions subject by subject, so you learn how OPSC sets options and repeats themes. The Mains workbook does the same for written papers, with model structures for recurring questions.
Daily PYQ practice is part of the class routine, not an extra. You can cross-check your attempts against the OPSC OAS solved papers on the website.
Study Material and the Odisha Portion
Long, unedited notes are the main reason students never finish the syllabus. The notes here stay concise, follow the current pattern and are refreshed each year, and include NCERT summaries, subject-wise GS books and teachers’ handouts.
Odisha is covered separately, through dedicated state GS modules, the monthly OAS Gazette and the Odisha Mega Year Book. The state current affairs magazine is open to everyone on the OPSC monthly magazine page, even before joining a course.
The Record Behind the Programme
In OPSC OAS 2024, 133 of the 200 selected candidates came from APTI PLUS, including six of the top ten ranks: Bubun Sahoo (Rank 1), Jitamitra Sahu (Rank 3), Kanak Jain (Rank 4), Sangram Pradhan (Rank 5), Nitesh K. Barik (Rank 8) and Itishree Jena (Rank 10).
Earlier years are similar: Antim Swain (Rank 6) in 2023, Swetashree Mohapatra (Rank 1) in 2022 and Suchismita Panigrahi (Rank 2) in 2021. Its total OPSC selections cross a thousand, which is why many aspirants call it the best OPSC coaching in Bhubaneswar.
Other Online Options
Odisha aspirants also look at Vanik, Chanakya Academy and national platforms with large online batches. These suit students who mainly want recorded lectures. The usual weak points are big groups, limited answer checking and thin Odisha content, so run the checklist above before joining.

Conclusion
Online study has removed the old excuse that serious preparation needs a big city. It has not removed the need for structure, because videos alone never made an officer.
Judge a course by the plain things: batch size, who answers your doubt, who checks your copy, how often you are tested and whether Odisha is covered. The same test works when you compare the best OAS coaching in Odisha for classroom study.
